52docs Week 6 - Much Ado About Docs

The big news over here at 52docs HQ is that we’ve officially cut the cord and cancelled subscriptions to all the major streamers in what their boardrooms are no doubt describing internally as a devastating blow to the bottom line.

That nobody has picked up the vital - and Oscar nominated! - No Other Land is a blight, but the fact that none of the documentaries sold at Sundance this year was the final straw - if the streaming services aren’t prepared to invest in legit documentary I’m done with subsidizing their slop.

Instead I’m signing up to Mubi to support this week’s film by a filmmaker I’ve known and admired for many years - Pinny Grylls. Her short Peter and Ben is definitely worth 10 minutes of your time. Lovely to see another old friend Jamie Perera took care of music and sound design.
