52docs is back!

Hello friend!

How have you been? Me? Became a father x 2, made some films, started needing glasses.

After an extended hiatus the time feels right to reboot this journey of documentary discovery, and I hope you’ll join the fun again.

A lot has changed in the five years (!) since we last did this, but the formula remains the same - a documentary a week for a year.

I’ll invite other filmmakers and artists to recommend favorites. The films will be archived over on Letterboxd as we go. And by the end of 2025 we’ll have watched some incredible work.

Like most independent creative spaces, the documentary landscape is alive and vibrant, but in need of our support. With that in mind, our first selection is a film that is on the Oscar shortlist but hasn’t been picked up for mainstream distribution.

No prizes for guessing why - the film is about a group of workers who take a stand against one of the most powerful companies on earth.
