As Iran, if not the world, teeters on the edge of an uncertain future, I’m doing my best to hold two truths even as one set of horrors is replaced with another.

This week’s film is both a collection of memories and a personal exploration of life as a woman in Iran, made by a filmmaker in exile.

At their best, documentaries like this take us beyond news headlines to connect us to ordinary people trying to live peacefully, take care of their families and find meaning and joy in the midst of it all.
