Hearts of Darkness is perhaps the preeminent documentary about a troubled film production but who can forget Lost in La Mancha or Burden of Dreams?

This week’s film adds FFC to the list for a second time. Respect. Unfortunately he lost so much of his own money making his passion project Megalopolis that he had to sell off his watch collection.

I love documentaries about filmmaking and Mike Figgis was an early influence (anyone else remember the Fig Rig?). Who knew a director could jump from winning Oscars to DV experimentation while often shooting the films themselves? Figgis also wrote a book that basically told us all to get out there and make work using newly available cheap digital cameras which was exactly the permission I needed.

Here MF x FFC have joined forces to show what happens when one filmmaker captures another basically setting fire to $120 million in the name of “fun”.
