52docs / 32 - Musique concrète

Apologies for another missed missive I took the fam to Port Townsend Film Festival last weekend where there was not only a small gathering of Friends of 52docs™ like the incomparable Jane, the always dapper Dom and others, but our film Loving Karma unexpectedly took home the Best Feature Documentary Award.

I’m not going to overthink the next one. It looks fun. It’s in the cinema here in Portland. And it feels like a warm up for what promises to be a really interesting few months of docs in Q4.

If you’re not already familiar with John Wilson, he’s basically a legend/poster boy for every weirdo with a digital camera and an eccentric affect. Sometimes it hits. Sometimes it misses. But his work undoubtedly invites you to look at the world in new ways. I’m very curious what the experience will be like in a cinema - whenever anything is marketed as ‘hilarious’ I internally fold my arms and think “well, I’ll be the judge of that”. So know that I won’t judge you for judging…
