Here in the United States many teachers have to buy their own classroom supplies and mental health funding in schools has been decimated while police forces have no trouble acquiring military equipment to suppress dissent.
As the country continues its slide towards a “dark, dystopian future” we are off to Russia - which has a few years head start on that path - for a film that made the final Oscar nominations in the company of other projects that center acts of defiance.
Where does education end and indoctrination begin? is one of the pressing questions of our time, and probably easier to watch play out in a country where the propaganda appears much less subtle.
