52docs / 24 - Bright lights big smoke

Like a lot of Europe, over here in Oregon and Washington much of the West is on fire.

Of all the cascading effects of climate change burning forests and homes and wildlife is one of my least favorite.

Instead of lighting up our screens with fire documentaries and flames, I think it’s probably more helpful to mourn the loss of life and remind ourselves just how beautiful this world is and why it’s worth saving.

Falling in love with the more-than-human will break our hearts again and again, but it might also move us towards the alternatives to our current course. So let’s travel via MOTH in NY to moths in the Himalayas as we acknowledge and celebrate interdependence and consider our roles in what comes next.
