Our next adventure takes place in China (hard to believe it’s 9 years since this masterpiece wormed its way into my brain).

Ascension was winner of the Best Documentary Feature Award at the Tribeca Film Festival, and snagged an Oscar nomination.

Someone helpfully (?) breaks the whole film down in three minutes which show how beautiful and mind blowing the images of Chinese industrialisation and its effects the filmmakers captured are.

Mixed reviews over on Letterboxd! I guess you either appreciate an essay film or you don’t. Deeper review here.
