When was the last time you went to the cinema to watch a feature documentary?

If I’m honest I can’t even remember, and that’s a little embarrassing for a documentary filmmaker to admit.

I recently learned that 80% of the viewing on an independent platform for documentaries happens on people’s phones.

Now, I’ll watch 100 Foot Wave while I’m doing the washing up and feel no shame, but maybe it’s time for us to gather some friends for a shared documentary experience in a cinema again.

That’s the inspiration for an IRL outing tomorrow evening here in Portland to watch our next film Secret Mall Apartment.
