52docs / 11 - A rising tide
One of the lessons I got from the first real production I worked on was “be nice to everyone, because someday they might end up hiring you”.
The point of the advice was not to kiss the producer’s ass, but be kind to everyone - even the most lowly crew member (which was me) - because things can happen fast in the film industry.
Which is why I’m thrilled to say that if you’re in the UK get along to a cinema for Underland, an epic achievement made by the wonderful Rob Petit, son of Chris Petit, and - true story - my first ever intern.
But since it’s not on wide release in the US yet I’m going with a different film as this week’s recommendation.
It’s a documentary that beat ours to receive the Best Mountain Culture award at Banff, which means it must be AMAZING, right?
Just kidding. Let’s find out for ourselves…
